About Web Studio 13

Profile1Welcome to Web Studio 13 – The Ultimate Social Media Blogosphere! My name is Andrew Wong. I am interested in discovering interesting ways to accomplish the things I am passionate about. I’d like to use this blog as a tool to inform you everything about social media, blogging, and web 2.0 in general. The following is my own stories which tell you how I developed this blogging concept.

From A to B

How did I get from Point A to Point B? The definitions of Point A and Point B are very simple. They simply indicate two different time frames in my life. Point A represents the time when I worked at Corporate America and extremely unsatisfied with the progress I had made during that period. Not until I read Tim Ferriss’ book The Four Hour Work Week did I finally realize there is another way to live a GOOD life. Tim talks about how to become a “Lifestyle Designer” in ways that are fascinating and grabbing your attention. In layman’s terms, his book is about “Having the time freedom to do whatever you want, wherever you want, with whomever you want, for as long as you want.

I was still working at a Manhattan based company in 2008 at that time. I have dreamt to be an entrepreneur since I was a little boy. Sometimes, it just felt sick and tired of the daily 9-5 grind that I had to face in exchange for that meager emotional and financial reward at work.

Luckily, over times, I’ve been exposed to Internet marketing. Granted, the idea of making BIG money online is still relatively new. In fact, the whole Internet marketing movement is pretty much still underground.

Lots of folks today are really in shock when they hear about people making six-figures a year by working online full-time. To be honest, I was in doubt too when I first heard about this. But, just keep on reading to see how my paradigm shifted.

First of all, let me share three major principles that would allow anyone to succeed big as an Internet marketer!

1). Bringing Something Valuable to the Marketplace

As business philosopher Jim Rohn puts it, “You don’t get paid for the hour. You get paid for the value you bring to the hour.” In other words, to be a successful online marketer, we must enrich other people’s lives by offering them something valuable, something that tailors to their specific needs.

In today’s world, people don’t typically respond very favorably to hard selling techniques, instead, they like you to earn their “Permission” to sell to them, as Seth Godin puts in his book “Permission Marketing.” Internet is a viable tool in sending the message out and getting the massive reach.

2). Combining Marketing and Selling Together, not Separating Them

Adword expert Perry Marshall used to say: “Advertising is selling in print.” I still remember, in one of his CDs, he talked about how effective marketing can greatly facilitate the process of selling. Today, social media marketing and blogging are both hot picks when it comes to effectively conducting your marketing campaigns. Those are precisely two of the major areas we will be focusing our efforts on in this blog.

3). Building Your “Tribes”

Seth Godin has clearly illustrated why it’s critically important for leaders to accumulate their followers in his book “Tribes.” Internet is a great tool to grow your network. Take Twitter as an example. US companies, including Starbucks and Wholefoods, have now all set up their corporate Twitter accounts, providing on-time customer services via social media, which, I believe, is very clever. How to use Twitter and other social media tools to build relationships and grow your business will be covered in details in our posts.

If you live close to the NY area, I would encourage you to join the New York Entrepreneur Network global group. Not only will you be networking with some top notch entrepreneurs, this will further benefit you by demonstrating how a “Tribe” mentality can bring enormous value to any small businesses.

From B to Z

With the launch of Web Studio 13, I believe there will be more opportunities coming along my way so I can share my knowledge and insight with a massive amount of like-minded tech enthusiasts, social media experts, entrepreneurs, influencers, Web 2.0 aficionados and technology journalists. No doubt to me. This journey will be nothing but exciting and fascinating. Above and beyond the point B, it’s a long way for me to go before I reach Point Z, the final destination. It’s really good to know that you can accompany me with this journey. Hope this blog will serve you well.
