Twitter’s initiative to roll out its “user suggested lists” is one of the most chatted topics in tech industry this week. Not only does this allow Twitter users to better manage the people they follow, but it also lets them share their lists with others, making the Twitterverse even more open. During the past two days after Twitter opened this feature to the public, there have been plenty of valuable lists being created by people such as Robert Scoble, Tim O’Reilly, etc. I have done a some research this morning and compiled the top 11 “Most Followed” lists. Please note note the lists are constantly changing. This collection of lists only represents what’s popular now. So if you are scratching your head trying to figure out what lists to follow, this list can be a very good starting point for you.
1. Twitter Team
Created by Twitter: There is a lot of hard work behind creating Twitter and continually rolling out all the new features. The Twitter Team does deserve the credits. Currently, this list has 25970 followers, making it the most followed list on Twitter so far.
Created by Robert Scoble: Being a tech enthusiast, Robert Scoble is leading this trend by setting an example by himself. As of now, Robert has created 18 lists, making a record for himself. Even better, he has three lists that will be featured in this article. The title of the list, “Most Influential in Tech,” is quite self-explanatory, basically covering a group of most remarkable tech geeks on Twitter. It currently has more than 1,100 followers.
Created by Robert Scoble: Again, created by Robert Scoble, this list is followed by almost 900 people at this moment. Personally, I can’t believe Scoble did this massive collection himself. It is impressive. If you are lacking news resources for your blog, podcast, or whatever you are doing, follow this list, by all means.
4. Mashable
Created by Mashable: One of my favorite tech blogs. This list is only following 10 people, mostly Mashable authors and contributors, but it is followed by more than 700 Twitter users at this moment.
5. Linkers
Created by Patrick LaForge: Patrick is the editor of New York Times. His “linkers” list was featured on a ReadWriteWeb article yesterday. It includes a group of influential people, especially in the tech industry. It is now followed by almost 600 people.
6. RWW Team
Created by Richard MacManus: Similar to Mashable and TechCrunch, I read ReadWriteWeb almost daily. This list is a collection of people working at RWW who work hard to get us news everyday. It’s followed by almost 500 people now.
Created by Robert Scoble: Venture capitalists are important for tech startups. Scoble, obviously, understands this. As the title indicates, this list includes an array of venture capitalists. There are 470 people following it right now.
Created by Josh Elman: Josh Elman has the experience working both at Facebook (Previous Position) and Twitter. He knows the right people in the tech industry and this list is definitely worth following if you love social media. Currently, it’s followed by more than 400 people.
Created by TechCrunch: A great list including the TechCrunch crew. Currently followed by almost 400 Twitter users.
10. NY Times Staff
Created by NY Times: Twitter featured NY Times’ list yesterday on its blog. In its post, it calls the NY Times Staff as The colorful people behind The Gray Lady. This list grows very fast as well, now followed by more than 300 Twitterers.
11. TechNews
Created by Tim O’Reilly: O’Reilly has a great list. By looking at the title, you can pretty much tell this is a list of Tech News resources. Unlike other lists, this one is short, but it’s right to the point. It currently only lists 39 resources. But it’s followed by almost 300 people.
So, what is your favorite Twitter list?
