I think it is the right time to do a product review about the Thesis Wordpress Theme. First off, please note that I was not given a review copy of the product or compensated in any way by Thesis to write this. I bought the product using the money in my own pocket. Now that I really like the product, I’ve decided to spread the words and share it with you. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let me walk you through some key points that really make These stand out from all other Wordpress themes, both free and paid.
1. Thesis is Already Search Engine Optimized.
I officially published my first post on 7/1/2009. Since then, this blog has been in existence for a little longer than 3 months. It attracts more and more visitors day by day (My analytic plugin shows me the page views I get with this site). In fact, if you search for WebStudio13.com at Alexa, you will find out the current Alexa Traffic Rank for this blog is 174,914. Well, I can’t sit on it, but it’s not a bad start. In other words, Thesis has made the blog relatively easy to find through search engines. Of course, I need to take credits as well since I try to publish fresh and valuable content as often as possible. As an example, try to Google the words “Top LinkedIn Groups,” and see where WebStudio13 appears.
Another great thing about having a search engine optimized theme is the fact that you don’t necessarily have to install all those SEO Plugins. It’s a great advantage since we all know that more plugins can only screw up your blogs.
2. Thesis Works Great with the Latest Wordpress Version.
WordPress has released a slew of security updates over the past several months, and now they’re up to version 2.8.4. Thesis 1.5.1 works like a charm with all of these security updates, including 2.8.4. Not only that, the true omnipotent power Thesis offers is its ability to eliminate as many plugins as possible. Here is an excerpt from a post written by Chris Pearson, the founder of Thesis Wordpress Theme:
I‘ve begun to notice that with each new release of WordPress, the marketplace echoes a palpable fear over compatibility, and rightly so! With so many plugins and themes floating around out there, upgrading WordPress has more or less become an exercise in “what will break next?”
Ever since I first launched Thesis in 2008, I’ve tried to incorporate as much plugin-like functionality as possible into the theme. This serves a twofold purpose:
- You can eliminate plugins, thereby reducing the number of headaches and things you need to worry about when upgrading WordPress (or even Thesis, for that matter).
- Stability. Ever had a plugin author quit updating a plugin that you used? Yeah—not fun. By using functionality that is built into Thesis, you’re taking advantage of a built-in insurance policy. Thesis is here to stay, and it will be compatible with the latest and greatest version of WordPress.
So if efficiency, attention to detail, and peace of mind about the future are important to you, then it’s high time to check out Thesis!
3. Customize Thesis with Only Two Files
Thesis is a huge time saver. If you have ever worked with code before, you know what I am talking about. Working with HTML, PHP, and CSS is not easy. It can eat up most of your time, leaving you very limited time to write quality content. However, Thesis lets you customize your blog by only changing two files custom.css and custom_functions.php. Every time I want to update my blog, I copy those two files, change them, and put the files back. There is no more modifying core files and scratching your head wondering where to begin with. Again, you would have to try it to tell me whether you agree with me or not.
4. Other Competitive Advantages
Really, I can list a hundred bullet points here about why I like Thesis. This is a number of other superior features I experience with Thesis Wordpress Theme:
- Thesis Open Hook plugin
- The multiple column feature
- Multimedia box
- The ability to incorporate Google Analytics and Mint
- Innovating options for revising the Nav Menu
- Options for both page framework and full-width framework
- More……
In summary, I would suggest you try out the Personal Version of Thesis for only $87 (Note: you only need the developer version if you want to install the theme on multiple sites). You can use my affiliate link to make the purchase. With the personal version, you always have the option to upgrade it to the developer version at a later time. Again, if you are reading Mashable’s 100 best Wordpress themes trying to decide what’s the best theme for your blog, you are wasting your precious time. Give Thesis 30 days and you will become a staunch supporter like me. Let me know if this post is helpful.
